Who We Are

La‘akea is a life sharing community that includes youth and adults who are intellectually and developmentally disabled. We are dedicated to discovering, supporting, and enhancing the contribution of each individual through meaningful opportunities and productive work. The programs include on-site farming, economic ventures, the arts and activities of daily living – all coming alive at La’akea Village. We have our thriving farm and garden areas, community buildings, our Country Store, crafting areas, and useful outdoor spaces. Inspired by the international Camphill model, La‘akea offers a unique alternative to conventional care where coworkers, and day program participants thrive.
